Wow! 2012 since I made any posts in this blog. I'm surprised it is still up and running. I guess what they say about the internet is true, it is forever. Scary, huh!?!?
I will be attempting to post updates of this, my latest journey. In this time of Covid-19, otherwise known as the Wuhan Flu, posting might be a challenge as finding a place I can sit down inside seems to be more difficult than I had thought it would be, even any states such as South Carolina. If you are in Charleston, which I am, it is still difficult. The McAlister's Deli I found is open for sitting inside but they have no electrical plugs. Nada, zilch, none. What's with that? So, as long as my laptop has juice I'll be typing.
This time I am departing from Fort Mill, SC with my final destination being Jacksonville, TX where my daughter lives. Of course to get there I will be circumnavigating Florida's coastline. I'm also attempting to relax and take my time and hike as many nature trails and meet my fancy. As you can see, this is the end of the second day and I will still not have left the state of origin.
Yesterday I was suppose to take a look at a possible home but come to find out even those are listed as "condos" they are really mobile homes. And if I'm going to buy a mobile home, it'll be placed on my daughter's property. Doesn't make economic sense to place it anywhere else. So that was a bust.
As I was driving along, and I am avoiding interstates, I was driving through Camden, SC. Camden was the sight of much Revolutionary War history. Cornwallis, a name I'm hoping most of you are familiar (if you aren't study your USA history) spent much of his time either here or near here. And while this isn't a nature trail, there was a trail that I took. Very short leisurely one. Following are a few pictures of the area.
After waking up and having a hearty breakfast at Bob Evans, I set off for Charleston. On the way I kept looking for nature trails and I found one. It is called the Wannamaker North Trail, so off I went to it's trail head. I arrived there shortly after noon and took to the trail. Now you have to understand, theses past few days, maybe longer in this area, is has been dreary and wet. And so was the trail. There was one spot on the trail where someone had left a shovel. No doubt to dig out of the mud if they happen to get stuck. I wonder if they would have been able to reach the shovel. Ha! Hope they were with someone. I wasn't. I imagine it would have been a much more beautiful trail during a nice spring or fall day.
The real excitement came when the my cell phone's battery gave up the ghost. I'm using an app called All Trails and it keeps me going in the right direction. Once it died, well, its a good thing there were good tail markings are I might still be out there. Yikes!
