I made it to China safely, not that I thought I wouldn't. The school I'm going to be teaching at is a highly rated IB school. Today, I was told by another teacher that getting experience at an IB school opens up opportunities throughout the world because the IB curriculum is very stringent. I hope that is true in case I do not enjoy teaching here.
As of now, it is way too soon to even think in that direction. The rooms are clean and very well furnished if not a bit smaller than the one I was staying in at Wuxi. On a scale of 10 though, Wuxi was a 2, this is an 8. And I love the shower. Hot, with a good strong flow. TV is okay but the "12" English speaking channel they said I'd get aren't really so. So far I've located 6, HBO, Nat Geo, a weird version of ESPN (and as of yet I get no sound on this channel), and three news networks - BBC, RT News and Aljazeera.
The trip over was uneventful for except for my losing my iPod. Must have popped off my belt between airports. I tried to report the lose but no one would ever pick up the phone. Oh well. It was time to buy a newer one anyway. Just need to find an electronics store or mall. Should be one some where around here. Although I must say, even though I'm literally in Beijing, I'm still very, very far away from the city center. When they say Beijing is big, believe it. I actually think from my first few walks that there were more "foreign" items in Wuxi than surrounding me in the Changping District. We are waaaaaaaaaaaaay out here. lol
