Everglades National Park is a fascinating place. If it weren't for the few of you who are reading my posts and still know me, I could walk into the glades and never be found again. Not that I would, I'm just saying that if someone wanted to get lost, the United States is so huge that they could if they really wanted to. I don't think we really understand the vastness of this country until we are in the midst of it or are standing on the top of a mountain looking out over a beautiful vista.
Of course the Everglades probably wouldn't be my getting-lost-in-the-wilderness of choice part of the USA. First, not a lot of animals I'd want to eat; more likely more that want to eat me. Not a good combination. Oh, there is plenty to eat, they are just tiny bugs scampering on the ground and there are millions of them. Every step I took, you could almost envision the ground moving. It really was both funny and kind of scary. And I'm not very sure how dry you stay. I have a feeling that if you were to set up camp on one of the prairies that in the middle of the night you might find yourself knee deep in water. Even as I was walking around, the ground was moist or had been just a few hours earlier. If the climate alarmists are correct, the whole of Southern Florida will completely disappear.
I wasn't able to hike as far as I wanted because my left knee started to act up on me and I'm beginning to listen to my body a bit more. Either that or I was just being lazy. Let's go with the former!! lol
I did catch the sight of two eagles as I was hiking out. The last couple of pictures capture them but they were so far away I'm not sure you'll be able to see anything. I attempted to enlarge the pictures but pixels do have their limitations.
Oh, and wonder of wonder, I was able to take my first shower of the trip at the camp site. Oh, am I going to sleep well tonight.
