If my recollection is correct, there are two highways that proceed down each coast (East and West) and both are Hwy 1. I've driven the West Coast Hwy 1 and it is a magnificently beautiful drive. Often the drive takes you to the very edge of the cliffs over-looking the ocean and you are able to pull off on occasion and see spectacular views. Not so much on the East Coast Hwy 1, at least the Florida portion. For the most part you are driving down the middle of the peninsula, not unlike some of the trails I've been on. Houses or berms on both sides of the highways block what I am sure would be some very beautiful views.
But when I drive places I've never been I almost always seem to run into pleasant surprises. And this occasion was no different. Some time after entering St. Lucia I ran across the US Navy UDT and SEAL Museum. What was fun, although I'm much too old to even attempt it, on the outside of the museum they have a mock Navy SEAL obstacle track. Oh if I were younger! But I'm afraid my knees would never hold up, especially being as sore as they are today.
Pepper Beach is right next to the museum.
Step count, a mere 3,271 thus far today and I doubt if it'll get much higher.
Enjoy the pictures.
