While in South Dakota I enjoyed Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore and not nary a golf course. maybe I'll catch one on my way back East. Maybe?!?
I have to say the most enjoyable point of South Dakota's journey was my brief stay at Sylvan Lake and the first hike I took of Sunday Gulch. The many streams and creeks and the shiny trail were the best. And the two lovely ladies that kept me company coming down from Harney's Peak made that hike much more enjoyable.
Mt. Rushmore had its good points but overall, except for the majesty of the monument itself was a little too commercial - National Monuments and Parks should be free to "the people". I did particularly like the fact that I purchased an annual park pass only to find out I'd still have to pay another $10 to enter Mt. Rushmore. Seems "they" get you coming and going. More on that in another blog. Here's are a few of the pictures I took along the way.
